Evening of Recognition 2019 Emcee Ted Hsu
Ted Hsu grew up in Kingston and was trained as a research physicist. After working in research he spent some time working in the capital markets, eventually becoming a business line manager in Japan. Ted returned to Kingston where he served as the executive director of SWITCH, south-eastern Ontario's sustainable energy association, from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2015 he served as the MP for Kingston and the Islands where he had roles in opposition as science and technology critic, natural resources critic and worked to bring back the long form census. Since then he has served on the Boards of Directors of SWITCH and the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences. He remains active in politics and is currently the co-chair of the Mayor of Kingston's Task Force on Housing.
