Sustainable Landscapes
Sustainable landscaping practices include the use of natural, native and low maintenance (i.e. minimal water or no cutting required) vegetation to enhance public right-of-ways, promote natural water infiltration, and reduce the cost and environmental impacts of maintenance, such as fossil fuel powered lawn mowing. The City will continue to lead by example through the promotion of past projects such as the water conservation garden at John Counter Boulevard Municipal Campus and the forthcoming 2020 pilot project of replacing boulevards and roadside grass plantings with wildflower verges.
