Pitch-In Kingston: Your Chance to Make a Difference

It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. But plastic pollution isn’t just an ocean issue – at least 80 per cent of the plastic in our oceans originates on land, including parks, sidewalks, and residential areas. Our homes are intricately connected to nature and to the vital aquatic ecosystems in our community; the litter we create can easily make its way into rivers, lakes and eventually the oceans.

This is your chance to make a difference! We’ve all heard about Kingston’s Climate Emergency declaration and some of us are struggling with what changes we can make. Pitch-in is just one way that you can help the environment and clean up our city.

From April 22-29, join the staff at Sustainable Kingston and thousands of your fellow members of our community (over 6,600 Kingstonians are already registered) to pitch-in and take action that will stop litter in its tracks. Whether you clean up with five friends or rally your entire workplace, you’ll be making a positive change for the planet and our community.

Then on April 27th celebrate your successes with us at the Earth Day celebrations at Belle Park from 12 pm - 4 pm.  More information here.

Why join Pitch-In?

  • Every piece of litter you remove from the community is one less piece that can be ingested by or entangle wildlife.

  • It’s a great way to meet new friends, build a sense of community and connect with nature.

  • Restore and beautify the community
